What are Telemarketing Leads?

Every company, that sells a product or a service to the general public, has to spend sufficient time and resources on marketing their product or service. Media advertising, though expensive, is said to be one of the most efficient methods of marketing. However, along with mass media, companies also have to rely on generating and following leads which can come in several forms including telemarketing leads, internet leads, email leads, etc.

Generating leads is one thing, following them up is another. There are several lead generating companies that provide specific leads for companies that have a need for them. Since the demand for generating leads is so high, thanks to the extreme competition in most industries, the lead generating industry by itself is flourishing. These companies filter out potential buyers for particular products sold by their clients. Then they supply these leads to their client. The client can now follow the leads or outsource it to another agency. The follow up is done depending on the type of lead supplied, for example, in the case of telemarketing lead.

Telemarketing leads are the ones which are followed up via telephone. The telemarketer is an individual who personally calls the leads on the behalf of the company whose product needs to be sold. He or she convinces the lead to purchase the same by highlighting the key benefits of the product or service, which could be anything from an insurance policy to a brand new car. Telemarketing leads is one of the most flexible and dynamic marketing solution and communication techniques. It is widely used and popular amongst the marketing departments of most companies.

Telemarketing leads can be obtained online for free in some websites. However, the authenticity of these leads cannot be guaranteed by the provider. Some of the leads might be non existent while others may not be interested. While obtaining telemarketing leads, one important aspect to be kept in mind is the ‘Do not call’ registry. Free lead providers might not be compliant with the DNC registry and this can lead to a loss of time and money for the company who is following up the telemarketing leads. Thus, it is always advisable to obtain leads from genuine companies that specifically look for leads that might be interested in purchasing the client’s product or service.

No company can survive in this competitive world by ignoring marketing leads or more specifically, telemarketing leads. It takes up a major chunk of the marketing machinery to which a sizeable amount of resources are dedicated. It becomes the responsibility of the company to ensure that the leads generated by them or by the external agency, are genuine and DNC compliant. After the leads are authenticated, the follow up needs quite a bit of attention. The follow up is important because it is the only part where the company has a major role to play in terms of portraying their product in front of the consumer and being able to convince the consumer to purchase it.
